There has been a significant increase in vaccine hesitancy resulting in reduced childhood vaccination rates. Parents are bombarded with vaccine misinformation, which creates doubts and questions regarding the importance and safety of vaccines. There are many trusted sources of information, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics that provide evidence-based information regarding the safety of vaccines and refute vaccine misinformation, but healthcare providers often do not have this information at their fingertips to share during patient encounters.

The goal of the Cootie Consult is to summarize the evidence about key topics related to vaccine importance, safety and efficacy and provide this in a concise easily accessible format that can be used by healthcare providers during patient care.  For each topic, there is a bulleted list of key evidence-based information on the topic to share with your patients and families. Below that, there are links to a more in-depth information sheet with the associated references and parent-friendly infographics available in English and Spanish.
